I have traveled the Iranian Kavir deserts for more than 10 years now. We got to know each other little by little. Something I appreciate about desert’s nature is its silence and awesome magnitude. Its beauty leaves the spectator awestruck. There is nothing tame about its aesthetics. Rather, it is interweaved with dichotomies: life and death, heat and cold, drought and humidity, light and shadow. The persistent drought will not bow to the human presence and the tranquility swallows his need for attention. It is dangerous, sensual and oblivious of the human categories of meaning and mind.
