I was trying to capture the elongated mirrors in the Grand Foyer of the Paris Opera House and managed to frame myself as well.
Moira McCarthy is an Australian educator, author and photographer who has regularly visited Paris to maintain her connection with French language and culture. In 2007, her heritage photography was first included in an International Exposition held by the Bibliotheque de Geographie at the University of Paris and later that year she was presented with a Gold Medal at the Venice International Photo Contest. Between 2007-2016, Moira has achieved forty Honorable Mentions from the International Photography Awards and the Prix de la Photographie Paris, many for her studies of the iconic sites of Paris. More recently, she has been successful with her photographs of the Bayside landscape of Melbourne, Australia. Her Black Rock Series, Missing Summer, and The Bandstand were awarded in the 2014 IPA Awards. In 2015, Moira received an Honorable Mention in the Professional Section of the Prix de la Photographie Paris for West on Rue de Rivoli which also featured on the cover of her memoir, Paris Light. Her Sunset Series, highlighting the Battle of Trafalgar monument in Sandringham, gained an Honorable Mention in the Professional Section of the 2015 IPA Awards. In the 2016 Professional Section, her four Honorable Mention awards showed creative experimentation with digital and special effects.
