David Clarke This is the shot I wish I’d taken. The light and atmosphere which surround the beautiful bridge is pulled together by perfectly placed figures silhouetted against the morning sun. A diagonal symmetry enhances and follows the line of the bridge, making the image almost textbook perfection. There is added pleasure created by barely visible shadows from the bridge glancing through the fog to highlight the statue ‘Christ the King’ standing on the opposite side of the river. Excellent!
This image was taken a few days after New Year's Eve in Lisbon, Portugal. I always wanted to take a photograph of this famous bridge covered in fog, and that day turned out to be perfect. I took this shot as I was astonished by the shapes created by the light and shadows, the perfect lines and people's silhouettes.
