On a volunteer trip to Nepal with EMPOWER NEPALI GIRLS (a non-profit providing scholarships for underprivileged, marginalized girls), I got a first hand look into the lives of Nepalis. So much is written on their faces. Women and children are expected to provide for their household, often by way of early marriage or trafficking, taking precedence over their right to an education. Despite their hardship, however, what truly made a lasting impression on me was the Nepali sense of spirit and their resilience, to value what little they had and to have faith in a brighter future.
