This self-portrait is from my series Ngātahi which means 'Together, as one, in unity.' For some of us, during our lockdown in Aotearoa, New Zealand, our idea of what and who is truly important shifted. As a way to remember where we were before lockdown, where we are right now and to not lose sight of where we want and need to go, I turned the camera in on myself. It's time to shape a new normal where open-minded, meaningful interactions, showing kindness and compassion to all is the only normal. To consider the world we want to live in and leave our children.
