Trees from Above is a collection of black-and-white images of trees from an unlikely view- from directly overhead- made with a drone and using snow as a white backdrop. Removed from its context, each tree reveals the familiar characteristics that we are used to seeing and admiring from the ground: grace, power, femininity, masculinity, balance and symmetry, but from an entirely new and unfamiliar perspective. I am hopeful that this new perspective inspires renewed appreciation for the trees that sustain us, and hopefully inspires a renewed effort to preserve and protect this precious resource.
