T. was in intensive care for covid and almost lost his life. Dr. Astua and his team pioneered new protocols that helped save T's life. He was to be released the next day from Elmhurst Hospital in Queens and got emotional when thanking the doctor. Dr. Astua started his shift at 8am and routinely would not leave the hospital until 11pm. He had been doing this for 40 days. When asked about the long shifts he replied "I grew up 5 blocks from here. These are my neighbors. I am going to be here."
