When the migrant camp Moria on the Greek island of Lesbos burned down in September 2020, almost 13,000 refugees became homeless overnight. Most of them fled to the surrounding streets, but a small group stayed behind to take care of the wounded cats and kittens, who were also left homeless by the fire. In a time when it would have been so easy for them to give up, they showed compassion and resilience in taking care of the animals. When the refugees had to move into a new camp set up by authorities, they reached out to the locals people on the island, and they started helping the cats together
