Salt Storm investigates the complex natural balance of salt lakes, the impact of climate change and our own human fragility. These ecosystems are extremely vulnerable. A balanced inflow of water is needed to maintain habitat, yet humans use water from these lakes for irrigation and industrial salt production. The result of irrigation: higher incidences of salt storms. Photographs were captured just before, during, and the day after a "salt storm" in which the pink salt mixed with the colour of the sky. Saline lakes make up 44% of the volume of all lakes and are important to balance climate.
