During quarantine, I wanted to make something hand crafted and tactile but still embrace the modern, rapidly emerging digital world the isolation of pandemic was bringing on. A sort of physical souvenir from a digital life. I developed a technique for taking video calls in a darkroom and making prints directly from my computer screen. Each of the photos submitted is a scan of an original 8x10-inch silver gelatin print from one of these conversations. The selective focus, dark border, and soft edges are creative choices determined by my hand placement and pressure during exposure.
