Over the last year, I've been documenting my Grandmother in her space at home. Learning more about her life and why she is the person she is today. Understanding the meaning of Blackness. What it means to be mixed-race and to come from a place of both worlds. "Ain't Suga Cute" is exploring my grandmothers identity and how I see myself with in her. Her love and passion for others around her. How she carries herself as an 88 year old woman with class and independence. Documenting her throughout her way of life. Understanding more about the Black side of my family and the history within.
"Ain't Suga Cute" is further exploring intimacy and identity of my grandmothers life through my eyes. Learning more about Black wealth and privilege. Understanding independence in small spaces. How these spaces can affect someone good and bad. How my grandmother lives her life at home. Focusing on beauty, class, race, heritage, and intimacy.
