Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam, is an annual Islamic pilgrimage held at the holy city of Makkah, Saudi Arabia; the most sacred city for Muslims. In recent years and under normal circumstances, around 2 million pilgrims would perform the rituals of Hajj, but this year’s unprecedented Hajj was cut down to 60,000 worshipers due to the ongoing pandemic. This series is an exploration of the female’s eye documenting the sacred rituals of a once in a lifetime experience, where pilgrims are united but apart in reflection and prayer.
