The free-roaming feral horses in Australia, known as brumbies, are most populous in the Northern Territory where this image was captured. Although brumbies are undoubtedly beautiful against the backdrop of the western desert, the land continues to be negatively effected by their presence through erosion and damage to scarce water sources. This image was taken while I was working in the remote community of Papunya.
