Story

This series is made as part of the artist's MA Photography course. Almpanis is researching the topic of "Personality and the Working Conditions." This series explores the oppressive dimension of the uniformity in particular business fields; the way this might impact someone's personality as well as the different roles a person might come into and how it might have certain behavioral consequences. The images are based largely on personal experiences; working in corporations. They are a visual exploration of how these experiences could be interpreted to create a story using photography. Based on research by the artist, there have been many instances where people feel exploited and sometimes sense that their personality is limited or endangered when inserted in the ideological structures of corporate giants. It seems that peoples' personalities are among the elements that are being overlooked when it comes to achieving company goals. This could result in the alienation of the self, as employees have to alter their personality in accordance with the corporation’s desires and policies. Nowadays, as the line between work and exploitation becomes ever more uncertain, this is an area that certainly calls for attention.
