This photograph represents the ephemeral moment that is the present. I captured a single moment in time as a vast swarm of locusts descended upon the landscape outside of Isalo National Park in Madagascar. The locusts took over the scene for a matter of minutes before moving on. Forces of nature shape our environment every day, but many are to slow to recognize until months or years later. This natural phenomenon of swarming insects dominated the landscape immediately, reflecting the present moment, while expressing the vulnerability of our planet to change.
