I did a series of portraits of child candidates for the Brazil's National Child Beauty Pageant Contest. I wanted to explore the aesthetics of formal beauty from classical paintings in order to both appreciate their grace and criticize the contest, where children are conditioned to set themselves to a high level of expectation and drive to succeed.
