There is a quaint little coffee bar my crew in Kibera has dubbed as “Sanity.” Beyond the confines of this tranquility where businessmen and tourists alike meet, seemingly unaware that 500 metres from here lies poverty, destitution and disease that is heavily embedded in one of the world’s largest slums. Where does sanity lie? Sanity is a fine line etched in the dirty streets between despair and hope. Hope is Kibera’s future. It maybe too late for the older generation but with careful planning and guidance the Kiberan’s future rests in the hands of the children.
