These images are part of my project and book Suburbia Mexicana. In these images I was returning to picture housing developments I had photographed 3 years earlier, when the houses where still uninhabited, to see how people transfor their small serial structure into a home. The result is a chaotic new ambiance where the Mexican drug war is taking place, and where these people try to somehow live a normal life.
These images are part of my project and book Suburbia Mexicana documenting the overgrowth of the metropolitan area of Monterrey Mexico . In these images I was returning to picture housing developments I had photographed 3 years earlier, when the houses where still uninhabited, and see how people transform their small serial structure house into a home. The result is a chaotic new ambiance where basic needs like transportation and security are scarce or null and is also currently the scenario of battles between the Mexican government and the drug cartels. Through it all, these people try to somehow live a normal life by building their own security systems, self-imposed curfews and the ever more common pay-offs to the "Mafiosos".
