I was recently sent by Arcadia University to Nicosia, Cyprus to document one of the last divided cities in the world. While there I encountered ‘Occupy the Buffer Zone’. ‘Occupy the Buffer Zone’ is the Cypriot wing of the Occupy Movement. As their namesake indicates, the Occupy Movement exists in Cyprus right in the U.N. Buffer zone, directly between the Turkish and Greek Military checkpoints. This activist – who wished to remain anonymous - helped establish and continues to maintain this movement which protests foreign involvement in the continued conflict driven separation between the Turkish and Greek populations of Cyprus.
