I make pictures from bits and pieces of everyday things: cloth, paper, wool, toying with them until they make sense. I’m drawn to shapes that are suggestive of things we recognize from our visual memories. Often, nature is evoked: sky, earth, water, or animals. I enjoy the challenge of making allusions through such limited means. I think of these pictures as drawings made with a camera. Providing so little in depth, detail, or tonal variation, they tug at the seams of what a photograph is. They hold our attention through their power of suggestion and their purely visual appeal.
