I was born in Costa Rica, a country worldwide catalogued as a sanctuary for Nature and Wildlife. But even here, beneath such a flattering slogan I have the strong sensation that our effort toward building a closest relation with our planet marches at a very slow pace. A very low pace indeed, compared with the accelerated deterioration we produce while we continue to unconsciously exploit its resources. I guess we should take this matter as a fundamental issue for our survival, remembering the wise words that proclaim that we are a strand in the web of life, that everything is connected.
With this concern in mind, my girlfriend and I did this series of images in 2007 with the sincere intention to represent our vital connection to our mother Earth. Part landscape, part nude, part portrait, part essay: the naked human body, free of any artifact, AS PART of a protected and pristine environment, manifesting our bond with Earth, our Symbiosis.
Symbiosis was conceived as a larger series of images that strive to make us reflect in our interdependence with Nature, showing as part of the same essence, body and nature, transmitting harmony and equilibrium generated by a mutually benefiting relationship.
