A works of metaphorical romanticism and introspective narrative- the portrayed contained spaces serve as an equivalent of my perceived psychological activities in the human brain when in fear. It is also a visual representations of an idiom, "calm before the storm". The photographic inner contained spaces serve to reflect our psychological state of mind, judgement and behavior when the human mind does not already have the ability to differentiate their physical rational space and disorientated psychological space. Thus, these images function as a doorway to an alternate dimension.

Story

This series of work is an exploration on the notion of fear. Here, I am using photography as a mirror - an introspective narrative. The photographic inner contained spaces serve to reflect our psychological state of mind, judgement and behavior when the human mind does not already have the ability to differentiate their physical rational space and disorientated psychological space. These two dimensions have been fused together when the barrier, to keep these spaces apart to sustain a sane, have been broken.

These images are created as a visual representations of an idiom, "calm before the storm", a period of peace before disturbance or crisis, an unnatural or false calm before a storm. Expecting a visceral response from the viewer - it could be seen as a calm, peaceful and quiet landscapes before realizing the uneasiness, discomfort and trapped emotion that will soon flood into the picture.

The cold concrete architecture echos the quiet. And the black shadowed opening of the windows and doors opens an alternate dimension to the contained spaces. I experience a more emotional connection towards these spaces when human activities has ceased and as the street lights quietly settle on their walls. The spaces slowly transform into representative spaces.

A works of metaphorical romanticism - the portrayed contained spaces ultimately would then serve as an equivalent of my perceived psychological activities in the human brain when in fear. I am trying to photograph the outside which is equivalent to the inside.
