6 june 2014: Operation Overlord. 70 years later I decide to remember and honor the heros of this day who change the face of the world. It was clearly an obligation to question the collectiv memory. I see my daughter's living free a comfortable live, for them but also for a lot of people in the world this war seems of took place century ago. I decide then to photograph this olds veterans in the uniform and in a situation close to the one they have been facing 70 years ago. Yes the are still alive, yes it's just yesterday that we had to face the darkness of the tyranny. I wanted to pay respect to the mans who choose to fight for the freedom of the next generation. It was have been difficult challenge to create this situation with real uniforms, planes, tanks and boats. I have done nine portraits in total, 3 americans (Parachutist from the 82th and 101th Airborne, 1 canadian pilot of typhoon, 1 british officer, 1 tankiste from Poland,1 french commando N°4, 1 french nurse, 1 french resistant and 1 German war prisonner. But I had to choose, so it was clear that the French was a minority in this Operation, the German was not a hero in my eyes but a victim of a political system. I choose the man who are the most representatives of the mans who fight and died for my country this day.
