Look-See-Find: Identity in Nostalgia, is an exploration of nostalgia through objects of vernacular family photographs and self-portraiture. I investigate methods of discovering identity through memory, place, time, and finding the Other-self within; linking identity to the past and through the future. When pivotal points in life such as births, divorce, empty nest, and aging cause a crisis of identity, one often is drawn to the past in search of answers. Sometimes this enables a letting go of ideas that no longer work for the present or finding things from the past histories that resonate as lasting and real.
