The center of Sardinia (Italy), a region of shepherds, conserves even today, prehistoric and mysterious rituals, inspired by the death and renaissance of the annual cycle of nature. Men, wearing fleeces, cowbells and wooden animal masks or monstrous anthropomorphic masks for scaring and fighting off wicked demons, walk together through their villages, towards the place where most likely in ancient times, blood sacrifices were offered to the Gods asking for protection and abundant herds. The event called in archaic language 'Carrasecare' , even if is linked today to Carnival, it really means: to cut (secare) the flesh(Carra).
