Every winter, the North Shore of Oahu is inundated with international surfers either competing in numerous events, or attempting to tame the famed waves of the seven-mile miracle, the stretch of coastline between Waimea and Turtle Bay. In early January, the crowds are relatively thin due to a gap in the competition schedule, allowing local surfers some respite from the crowds. This series of local Hawaiian surfers shot at Pipeline, the jewel of the seven-mile stretch, was shot with a slow shutter, to illustrate the flow & movement of the environment and accentuate the graceful nature of the sport.
